Here’s what topped ATRI’s list for 2025:

  1. Economy – Still #1 as tariffs, weak demand, and higher equipment costs squeeze margins.
  2. Lawsuit Abuse Reform – At a record high amid rising nuclear verdicts and staged-accident scams.
  3. Insurance Costs – Up 36% over eight years; smaller fleets hardest hit.
  4. Truck Parking – Down two spots, though states like Ohio and Pennsylvania are adding new capacity.
  5. Driver Compensation – Pay remains a balancing act in a down market.
  6. CSA Scores – Ongoing frustration as FMCSA delays long-promised reforms.
  7. English Proficiency – New issue, tied to reinstated federal testing and enforcement standards.
  8. Diesel Emissions Rules – The 2027 EPA NOx rule looms large over new truck costs.
  9. Driver Training Standards – Growing concern over entry-level training quality.
  10. Artificial Intelligence – New entrant; promise of efficiency meets fears of job loss.

Bottom line: ATRI’s 2025 list reflects an industry adapting to both economic pressure and rapid technological change — trying to stay profitable while navigating a shifting regulatory landscape.
